BOR-MAR-GAR PRINTING

Have you ever shaken someone’s hand in greeting and sensed in that exchange the sum of a person? Like a combination of integrity, commitment, dedication, faith, family and community? You have? Then you must have met Borden DeLong.

Borden and his wife Marilyn have worked side-by-side with their home-based business in Brown’s Flat for just over 30 years. Bor-Mar-Gar Printing is a testament to a real traditional artform of offset and letterpress printing. In an age of electronics and digital printing, Borden is an artisan in the fundamental principles of printing.

He and Marilyn output their own negatives from artwork, burn them to a plate and by the transfer of ink from the plate to paper produce everything from business cards, invoice booklets, letterhead, envelopes, perforated tickets, NCR forms.
All good things that we still need in light of the Great World Wide Web. And they have everything under one roof!..clean and organized too! But you know what they say about what’s behind every good man...

Not to be undone by industry advancements, Borden just purchased an inserter machine and is responsible for preparing mail-outs for many funeral homes within the Maritimes.

“You wouldn’t believe it,” Borden remarks, “in one shot we run through the forms we printed and this machine folds, inserts, and seals the postage paid envelopes so the finished product pops out the other end ready to be mailed. 1,350 an hour!”

Everything Bor-Mar-Gar Printing does gives their clients the personal touch. “I love having my own business here, working from home with Marilyn (we’ve been married for 45 years this August, you know!). We set our schedule by the workload, sometimes we do other things and then there are times we’re up till midnight to get the job done.

“I’d say the Lower St. John River Valley has a huge potential for being one of the biggest homebased business communities around. And it’s a great family-oriented community – we have everything we need close to home and you always feel like you’re among friends. You support your community and it supports you.”

Bor-Mar-Gar has done a great variety of work in the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield and surrounding areas.

Borden is an upfront guy - he’ll get you what you need when you might not know what you want. But if he can’t do it, he’ll tell you.

“That’s the way I am. I want to be able to stand behind what I do.” A refreshing approach in a faceless world of call centres from unknown destinations and deals that are struck without the personal touch of a handshake.
