Brad, who has been training career professionals within the fire service for approx. 10 years and medical first response for five, is a multi-faceted health and safety training provider, delivering those same services in the worplace as well. “Because we’re so spread out, provincially, and we are largely rural, there’s a greater demand for increased competent training. And I’ve also seen the need for smaller businesses who don’t have the luxury that the big businesses have with their own in-house training to be able to educate themselves in prevention and first response.” FireMed Training Solutions offers health and safety education services to organizations - helping prepare an emergency response plan no matter how small – which can result in the reduction of accident claim costs and helping business practices operate to code. Brad is a recognized Fire Training Instructor with the New Brunswick Community College, is certified by WorkSafeNB in Workplace Standard First Aid under the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Council (IFSAC) offering nationally recognized Fire Service training. “Part of my approach in training includes the opportunity to play out different response situations. Eventually I’d like to incorporate virtual reality equipment to aid in the education process.” [VR - or virtual reality - applies to digitally simulated environments that can simulate physical presence in places in the real world.] “Education is critical and continued education is important - I’ve been fortunate over the years with the opportunities afforded me by the Town’s course upgrading and I feel the need to take that beyond our own jurisdiction into the public service and business sections. It’s all about community and family” – as shown to the left with his own support group; life partner Heather Hurley (right), Heather’s daughter, Paige, and grandson, Kanan. And like Bing Crosby used to sing, ‘You’ve got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative’. |
