FAMILY STORIES FOR CHRISTMAS

David Goss has collected and shared Christmas stories for the past forty years with a wide range of audiences from youth to the elderly.

The stories will help to bring the joy of this special season to you and your family as we gather at the Brundage Point River Centre on Sunday afternoon, December 19th from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm. The season’s gems, some sacred, some secular, some a mix of both, will be shared in prose, poetry, via skits, songs, and puppet characters, and with audience participation to bring them alive.

There will be a mid program refreshment break provided by the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield.

The tales will range from classic to contemporary. Some have been told for centuries, while others were only written in the past 10 years, and are already beloved though not perhaps as well known as they will eventually become. Expect to hear the tale of “Morris the Mouse”, “Why Some Trees Remain Green all Winter”, or “Who Brings Gifts to the Children of Russia”. There will be picture book stories our Victorian ancestors loved, poems they cherished like “Hang Up the Baby’s Stocking,” and even a scary tale or two, as our ancestors loved such stories at Christmas…but don’t worry, they are all suitable for all ages. Modern classics will include “The Tree That Came to Stay,” and the “Christmas Cookie Sprinkle Snitcher,” to name just a few.
