PUBLIC NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS All dog owners within the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield are required to register/license their dogs for 2010 by January 31, 2010 and provide evidence the dog has been vaccinated for rabies per Town By-law No. 32. Please call the Dog Control Officer at 653-1958 if you have any questions concerning evidence of vaccination. Dog licenses may be purchased as follows: Date: Saturday, January 30, 2010Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Place: Grand Bay Room of the Community Centrum 609 River Valley Drive (rear of the building)

Spayed $10.00 Dog licenses may be brought to your home for purchase by calling the Dog Control Officer at 653-1958 or may be purchased from the Town Office, 609 River Valley Drive during regular business hours. The Town would appreciate the co-operation of all dog owners in the community in obtaining their 2010 license, prior to January 31, 2010. Dog owners should be aware of the following regulations under Town By-law No. 32: The owner or keeper of a dog shall not allow that dog to run at large in the Town. The owner or keeper of a dog, which excretes on property other than that of the owner, shall immediately clean up such excrement and dispose of same on property owned by the owner of the dog. The owner or keeper, if the owner is not available, of a dog, which has not been vaccinated against rabies, shall have the dog vaccinated: (a) within 10 days of acquiring the dog if the dog is more than 6 months old; or (b) within 10 days after it reaches the age of 6 months. When a dog is more than 6 months of age on the date of this by-law coming into force and it has not been vaccinated against rabies, the owner or keeper if the owner is not available shall have the dog vaccinated against rabies within 1 month. An owner or keeper, if the owner is not available, who neglects or refuses to have his or her dog vaccinated against rabies is guilty of an offence and is liable to a fine of not less than $70.00 and not more than $250.00 and in default of payment hereof to prosecution in accordance with the Provisions of the Provincial Offenses Procedure Act. A person who fails to comply with the provisions of By-law No. 32 is subject to a fine of not less than $70.00.
