DRIVING WELLNESS VAN In an attempt to help New Brunswickers, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick will have a Wellness Van travel throughout New Brunswick promoting the benefits of healthy living. The Wellness Van will be at the River Centre, 4 Ferry Road, Grand Bay-Westfield from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm during the Canada Day festivities. The slogan for the van is simply, Driving Wellness. This is a way of getting adults and children excited about living a healthy lifestyle. This Van will focus on four areas that have been identified as major contributors to the increased health risk of New Brunswickers: Nutrition, Physical Activity, Tobacco and Hypertension. This project will focus on educating individuals and families both in the community and at the workplace. We believe that healthy workplaces can greatly enhance the communities in which the people of New Brunswick live and therefore we must focus on both. Various communities and workplaces around the province will be targeted, ensuring that both health regions are equally included. We want to see the wellness van at worksites, community picnics, parades, festivals, staff days, sporting events, concerts and even tourist attraction areas. The
primary goal of the wellness van is to bring the message of healthy
living and wellness to all New Brunswickers. We believe by Driving
Wellness throughout
the province this summer we can help shape the health of New
Brunswickers. |
